Working for Mor Design we produced a conceptual plan for the exterior play area, including bespoke furniture and features. The conceptual work was put together for a project pitch to the local council. The pitch was successful and received £40,000 pounds for the redevelopment of the school.
Sensory Learning Pad
The sensory learning pad is designed as part of the overall concept plan for Pencalenick School. The pad allows for outside learning, performance and games. The roof is Aluminium, formed from a steamed timber frame; this provides shelter reflection and sound when raining. The planting is integrated into the seating that forms a translucent barrier. The poles vary in thickness and height to produce different sounds.
Oval Planters
These Planters were designed to encourage sensory learning. The slopping sides are made out of ‘flexi top’ a porous, tactile rubber. The sides allow children to lie on them and play with the planting.
Seating
The seating was designed to encourage Social interaction. They are made from a tactile rubber called flexi-top, which is moulded onto a steel frame. They are colourful and fun as well as a durable and robust seating solution for the children.
